You will source and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, raw material, parts and services necessary for Sierra Nevada Corporation’s operations in Sparks, NV.

The Purchasing Specialist:

·         Compiles information to keep informed on price trends and manufacturing processes.

·         Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers' operations to determine factors that affect price and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability, and ability to meet required schedules.

·         Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects and recommends suppliers and follows up orders placed.

·         The ideal candidate is a team player with excellent written and verbal communication skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Support proposal efforts with RFP’s/RFQ’s.

• Develop alternate sources, ensuring continuity of supply, consistency of quality, and competitive pricing.

• Maintain purchase order files in audit ready condition.

• Ensure accurate data is maintained in Costpoint.

• Evaluate suppliers through objective performance measurements, including on-time delivery, service performance, and price performance.

• A minimum of 3 years experience in purchasing handling a wide variety of commodities.

• Ability to perform price analysis and negotiate in a wide variety of circumstances.

• Experience with procuring military requirements and an understanding of military standards preferred.

• Certification by ISM is preferred.

• The ability to represent the company effectively and in a professional and business-like manner is essential.

• Comprehensive written, verbal, analytical and general accounting skills.

• MS Office, Lotus Notes and Material Management software knowledge.

• Ability to perform price analysis in a wide variety of circumstances.

• Cross training in other departments is essential in understanding the inter-relationship of process at SNC.

• Ability to read and understand technical drawing and specifications.

• Knowledge of FAR, UCC & public law required.
