opportunity for a Buyer III to join the Parts
& Accessories Division! Position is located in
Cypress, CA. Successful candidate will be responsible
generating purchase requisitions, including proofing, and
approving final purchase orders. Individual will
purchase and negotiate with domestic and overseas
vendors, follow-up on placement of orders, scheduling,
and expediting deliveries. Primary purchasing
responsibility will be for prototypes, tool samples,
tooling, and first production runs.
Other specific duties
include, but not limited to:
- Adding new parts
and bills of material to the part master
file. Analyze pricing as compared to target
prices and coordinate discrepancy resolution with
Product Planning. Communicate packaging
issue to the appropriate supplier and coordinate
the resolution of problems.
- Inform Customer
Service on new product availability
dates/schedules, as well as, details of
production, quality, and engineering
delays. Resolve parts import problems with
Distribution and Accounting. Coordinate the
resolution of parts quality and receiving
discrepancies.
- Responsible for
identifying new suppliers, as well as, their
development in terms of sophistication of
processes. Also responsible for better
aligning the suppliers with Yamahas
processes Given new product requirements,
responsible for identifying companies that have
the appropriate capabilities. Make initial
contact with new suppliers and handle paperwork
for new supplier set-up. Recommend
appropriate suppliers for the production of
products.
- Place orders for
prototype parts and prototype tooling.
Obtain quotations for prototypes, tooling, and
production. Ensure prototype tooling and
parts are completed in a timely manner.
Analyze pricing as compared to targets.
- Place orders for
tool samples and tooling. Obtain quotations
for tool samples, tooling, and production.
Analyze quotes and identify recommended suppliers
for new products. Coordinate with vendor to
provide timely tooling and tool sample
production. Notify suppliers of tool sample
approval and authorize production.
- Resolve packaging
and installation instruction problems. Work with
Product Planning to determine appropriate initial
buys, yearly usage, and target prices.
Maintain a schedule of product development that
identifies each part and its needed steps to
complete the products. Report on the
product development process. Work to meet
milestone dates for product development.
Work to meet target pricing.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in
a technical field such as Engineering and a
minimum of 7 years experience in buying,
purchasing, or product development in a
manufacturing environment.
- Strong computer
skills, specifically MS Office Application.
- Strong project
management software and CAD programs.
- Ability to read
blueprints.
- Excellent
analytical skills.
- Must be able to
manage large projects to completion, be decisive,
thorough and detail oriented.
- Strong
communication and interpersonal, and customer
service skills.
