Senor Capital Buyer

The Senior Buyer is responsible for coordinating communications between hospital and clinic staff and vendors. Performs the purchasing duties of capital equipment and service contracts. Leads in the negotiations, contracting, evaluations and consultation of capital purchasing and service contracts.

• Administers and directs the program to purchase capital materials, and equipment for all MHC hospitals and clinic use.
• Administers the service contract program with Biomed support as needed.
• Reviews requests for medical equipment, furnishings, supplies and other items with the appropriate requesting department managers/ supervisors including off-site facilities.
• Interviews vendors and reviews catalogs and other sources to obtain information on items for purchase.
• Compares prices and specifications; directs and prepares purchase orders to merchandising firms for delivery.
• Prepares bid instructions on large orders or special equipment.
• Maintains current knowledge of supply chain, purchasing, and healthcare advancements by reviewing advertising literature, trade magazines and other publications.
• Consults with department heads to determine the quality, effectiveness and durability of products purchase, as well as ensure adherence to department budgets.
• Utilizes ERCI as a sourcing and product pricing tool.
• Plans and conducts pre-negotiation and negotiation meetings.
• Reviews records of purchases to monitors savings.

Bachelors degree in Materials Management or related field preferred. Previous hospital related purchasing, merchandising, accounting and marketing experience STRONGLY preferred. Must possess the aptitude to direct, control and plan purchasing. The individual must exercise sound judgment. Interpersonal skills very important. Computer knowledgeable with basic programming a must.
