Materials Acquisition Manager

Location: Reno, NV

 

Responsibilities: Manages acquisition and control of all Direct Inventory Material for Manufacturing Operations. Responsible for day-to-day planning and purchasing activities, ensuring an appropriate supply of material is available for production lines, related factories, and support organizations at all times. Oversees the execution of targeted supplier and buyer performance, inventory levels and turns for all Inventory Materials. The position is a highly tactical role, charged with keeping Manufacturing running and on schedule as the absolute first priority. The position also needs to support and promote the concept of separation of tactical and strategic roles within Supply Chain Management.

  • Manages planning and purchasing of parts and commodities with an annual cost of typically ~$450M to $500M
  • Operates within the framework of the operating plans of the Supply Chain Management department of which the entity managed is a part
  • Manages the execution of the operating plans of the entity managed
  • Supports or has shared accountability for achieving the financial (e.g., budget) and operational goals (e.g., inventory levels and turns) of the entity managed
  • Supervises at least two Managers having direct report staffs
  • Activities of entity managed impact several short and mid-term production operations
  • Has advanced in-depth knowledge of / skills in the content areas of:

- Combined material planning / procurement
- Commodities and suppliers within assigned area(s)
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Analyzing and interpreting data
- Planning and procurement modules within SAP

 

 Qualifications:

  • Requires 10+ years of experience in combined material planning/procurement in a production environment, related to the manufacturing of electronics, electro-mechanical, or technology components
  • Requires purchasing responsibility of at least $150M of electronic components for a minimum of 5 years, ideal candidate will have purchasing responsibility of $250M-$500M+ of electronic components for 5+ years
  • Requires 10+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • APICS certification preferred
