Senior Purchasing Agent
Manages vendor relationships
involved with procuring goods and services such as raw
materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies.
Researches vendor capabilities, investigates references,
tests material samples, evaluates results and recommends
selections. Conducts off-site visits and
inspections. Negotiates price, availability and
delivery schedules. Maintains primary and secondary
vendor supply options. Confers with internal
departments to determine inventory needs and investigates
vendor problems, such as quality and availability
issues. Determines method of procurement, prepares
purchase orders or bids, approves invoices for payment,
coordinates returns and exchanges of unacceptable
goods. Expedites delivery of goods and maintains
detailed records. Education, experience and skills
required: Bachelors degree in business or
related field preferred. Must hold CPM or CPIM
professional certification and have a minimum of 5-10
years strong purchasing experience. Strong written
and oral communication skills. Intermediate level
proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power
